More than 1,600 participants attended the EDF 2022 Info Days, which took place in hybrid format in Brussels on 30 June and 1 July. The wide participation confirmed the strong interest of the EU defence industry in the European Defence Fund, managed by DG DEFIS of the European Commission.
The event was opened by François Arbault, Director for Defence Industry in DG DEFIS. Mr Timo Pesonen, Director-General of DG DEFIS, made an opening intervention welcoming industry, SMEs, R&D organisations, government representatives and universities from all EDF participating countries who have gathered together to learn more about the topics of the EDF Calls for proposals 2022.
The Information Day on 30 June featured 5 information sessions. DG DEFIS experts presented an overview and key principles of the programme. This was followed by sessions dedicated to the different steps and provisions needed for applicants to apply to the 2022 EDF calls for proposals. This included a session with a live “step-by-step” demonstration of the proposal submission process.
The “EDF Info Days 2022” continued on 1 July with thematic pitching sessions where over 100 individual companies and research organisations presented themselves and pitched their project ideas, as well as networking opportunities.
DG DEFIS will continue to support outreach on the EDF Programme and the calls for proposals, including with the help of the dedicated EDF National Focal Points and through the European Network of Defence-related Regions.
