Hosted in Brussels on 23 October 2024, the hybrid EU In-Space Operations and Services (ISOS) Cluster Workshop brought together 60 participants from the EU-funded ISOS stakeholder community.
Daniel Noelke, Christos Ampatzis (DG DEFIS) and Davide Di Domizio (HaDEA) opened the workshop by reminding the participants of the importance of ISOS as the backbone of the EU’s key strategic capacity to Act in Space, and the overarching roadmap towards preparing a pioneering EU ISOS Pilot Mission.
After the welcome address, representatives from 8 EU-funded R&I projects (featured in this new EU publication) provided an overview of the ISOS capabilities under development in the respective projects, as well as their contributions to the creation of a robust ISOS ecosystem in Europe. Further discussions included an open exchange on identified opportunities, needs and challenges faced by the stakeholder community, and an ideation exercise on the building block components of the Pilot Mission.
The final part of the workshop was dedicated to the introduction of the ISOS Ecosystem Hub, a novel platform to facilitate and foster collaboration between European ISOS actors in various domains. The platform is currently under development, with initial user testing ongoing.
