Become a local organiser of the next CASSINI Hackathon

5th CASSINI Hackathon

From 24 to 26 March 2023, DG DEFIS will organise the 5th thematic Hackathon on “Space for defence & security”. As for the previous editions, we are looking for local Hubs to host this two-day competition in several European locations to allow more participants to participate across Europe.

This is an unique opportunity for Incubators, accelerators, technology companies, defence innovation hubs, universities and research centres that are willing to position themselves among the leading entrepreneurial space eco-system, but also to expand their network and attract new local sponsors, being backed by the EU Space programme.

For this particular Hackathon, participants will be challenged to strengthen Europe’s defence and security capabilities with the help of European space technologies. As armed conflicts and civil wars re-emerge in the EU’s neighbourhood, new and unconventional security threats have emerged or grown stronger, making the global security environment more contested, complex and interconnected.

Space data, information and signals can enable novel and unique solutions for cross-terrain mobility and logistics, maritime threat intelligence and infrastructure network resiliency. Thus, participants have the opportunity to demonstrate the potential of will need to innovate with earth observation data from Copernicus and satellite positioning and navigation services from Galileo & EGNOS to develop innovative applications. On top of that, they will be encouraged to develop solutions with cybersecurity in mind from the start. The three winners of the event will get a tailor-made mentoring scheme.

Interested stakeholders can submit their application before 30 September 2022 at 23:59 CET via cassini.eu/hackathons/organisers
