GOVSATCOM-related activities
The following projects are related to GOVSATCOM:
- ENTRUSTED : This EU-funded project led by the European GNSS Agency (GSA) aims to set and maintain a network of governmental users of secure satellite communication (satcom) services, to establish a consolidated and prioritised set of user requirements, to support the uptake of secure governmental satcom solutions, and to elaborate a long-term roadmap and coordination plan for Research & Innovation activities in the domain of user technologies;
- GOVSATCOM Precursor: This preparatory programme launched by the European Space Agency (ESA) [www.esa.int] consists of a set of so-called ‘PACIS’ projects in which European satellite operators and service providers develop digital platforms, termed Pooling and Sharing systems (PSS), enabling a near real-time seamless matchmaking between satcom demands and offers for users having specific reliability, availability and security requirements;
- GSC Demo : This project launched by the European Defence Agency (EDA) [https://www.eda.europa.eu] aims to provide EU GOVSATCOM services, which cannot be obtained on the commercial market with sufficient level of guaranteed access and security, through pooled capabilities provided by contributing Member States and to demonstrate the benefits of pooling national satellite communication capabilities by sharing them on an efficient pay-per-use basis.
In addition to the above European initiatives, national initiatives such as Ital-Govsatcom in Italy or GovSat-1 in Luxembourg aim to develop satellite capabilities which will support EU GOVSATCOM
