Galileo’s OSNMA Authentication Service Now Operational

Webinar on 1 September to introduce the new capability

The European Commission and the European Union Agency for the Space Programme (EUSPA) will host a webinar titled “Introducing the new Galileo authentication service, OSNMA” on 1 September 2025 at 14:00 CEST to present Galileo’s new authentication service, the Open Service Navigation Message Authentication (OSNMA).

A new era for secure satellite navigation

On 24 July 2025, the OSNMA service was officially declared operational, accompanied by the publication of its Service Definition Document (SDD). This marks a major milestone for Galileo and for global users of satellite navigation.

OSNMA provides authentication of Galileo’s Open Service navigation messages, enabling users to confirm that the information truly comes from Galileo and has not been modified. This capability significantly enhances protection against spoofing, a growing threat as interference events increase worldwide.
