In the context of the 2022 EU Week of Regions (10-14 October), which celebrates its 20th anniversary, DG DEFIS will host a 1-hour session titled: "Space and Defence Ecosystems - Fostering the Digital Economies of EU Regions".

Then don’t miss DG DEFIS's interactive talk with European Commission representatives, beneficiaries and stakeholders of our EU-wide initiatives, as part of the European Defence Fund and the EU Space Programme. These initiatives are enabling new ways to foster regional dialogue, exchange best practices, and enable cross-border digital innovations between EU regions. Join us and hear from the experts!

Moderator: Dinka Dinkova - Deputy Head of Unit of the Communication and International Relations Unit, DG DEFIS

Paul Anciaux - Policy Officer, EDF Progamming and SME Support Unit, DG DEFIS

Since May 2012 Paul has become Policy Officer responsible for the Defence Industries. Within the DG Defence Industry and Space, Paul is coordinating various actions in support of defence SMEs, including the network of National Focal Points of the European Defence Fund as well as the European Network of Defence-related Regions.

Martina Sindelar - Policy Officer, Innovation, Start-ups and Economics Unit, DG DEFIS

Martina has a PhD in international economics. After working for the German government she joined the European Commission where she occupied various posts in different services. Since January 2020, Martina joined DG DEFIS unit for Innovation, Start-ups and Economics. Her new function covered the Copernicus Accelerator programme, the various Copernicus Prizes, and the development of the CASSINI space entrepreneurship initiative, notably the Hackathon and Mentoring activities.

Lison Rabuel -  Advisor for Digital, Security & Defence, NCP Wallonie

Lison Rabuel is the National Contact Point of the Region of Wallonia for digital, security and defence projects. Her role is to support regional actors to apply to EU funding programmes – in particular Horizon Europe, Digital Europe and the European Defence Fund. She graduated in Political Sciences and European Political and Administrative Studies. She started her career in a consulting firm supporting innovative companies willing to access EU funding opportunities before joining the NCP Wallonie in March 2022.

Fernando Bebiano Correia - Co-founder, Green Travel Spots

Fernando graduated in Business Management from ISEG Lisbon Business School after which he entered the financial asset management industry as a Hedge Fund Sales first and portfolio manager later. After this 5 years experience, Fernando quit his job in Geneva to initiate a payments startup which would kick-off his entrepreneurial career. Today Fernando owns a local tourism company and is involved in the development of a pollution space monitoring project as well as of a tourism startup.
