Alliance for Zero-Emission Aviation (AZEA) held its 5th General Assembly at EUROCONTROL

On 27 January 2025, the Alliance for Zero-Emission Aviation (AZEA) held its 5th General Assembly at EUROCONTROL. Since its launch by DG DEFIS in 2022, AZEA has gathered more than 195 Members of the aviation ecosystem, ranging from aircraft manufacturers and operators, airports, energy providers, fuel suppliers, standardisation and certification bodies, as well as regulators and advocacy groups.

At the occasion of the 5th General Assembly, the Alliance emphasised its commitment to the delivery of a Roadmap for the entire ecosystem by the end of 2025. Furthermore, Alliance members were informed about the Work Plan for the 2025-2026 period, identifying new areas of interest as well as horizontal activities to support the rollout of hydrogen-powered and electric flights in Europe. The Working Groups (WGs) of the Alliance also provided an update on their ongoing activities and on the progress on their deliveries.  WG 4 on ‘’Aviation regulation, certification and standardisation’’, chaired by the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA), presented its recently adopted Standardisation Gap Report. The report as well as the AZEA Work Plan 2025-2026 are now available on the DEFIS AZEA website. 

EUROCONTROL, a founding member of the Alliance, hosted the event for the third time at its Headquarters in Brussels, Belgium. The General Assembly featured insightful presentations by Members of the Alliance, including representatives from the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA), EUROCONTROL, SESAR 3 JU, Airbus, GAMA, CENA Hessen, SEA Milan Airports, AURA AERO and VZLU Aerospace. The event also included relevant external presentations from the Norwegian Civil Aviation Authority  (CAA Norway) and from different European Commission services on the funding and support opportunities provided by the Innovation Fund, the European Innovation Council (EIC) and the Enterprise Europe Network to the zero-emission aviation ecosystem.
